1、 Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose dosage

Propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is a non ionic cellulose ether prepared from natural high molecular material cellulose through a series of chemical processes. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) is a odorless, tasteless, non-toxic white powder that can be dissolved in cold water to form a transparent, viscous solution. It has properties such as thickening, adhesion, dispersion, emulsification, film formation, suspension, adsorption, gelling, surface activity, water retention, and protective colloid.

2、 What are the main uses of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC)?

HPMC is widely used in construction materials, coatings, synthetic resins, ceramics, medicine, food, textiles, agriculture, cosmetics, tobacco, and other industries. HPMC can be divided into architectural grade, food grade, and pharmaceutical grade according to its use. Currently, most domestic products are of construction grade. In construction grade, the amount of putty powder is large, with about 90% being used as putty powder, and the rest being used as cement mortar and glue.

3、 Application of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose in Building Materials

1. Masonry mortar, plastering mortar

High water retention can fully hydrate cement. Significantly increase the bond strength. At the same time, the tensile strength and shear strength can be improved appropriately. Greatly improve the construction effect and work efficiency.

2. Water resistant putty

The main function of cellulose ether in putty is to retain water, bond, and lubricate, avoiding cracks or powder loss caused by rapid water loss. At the same time, it increases the adhesion of the putty, reduces sagging during construction, and makes the construction smoother and more labor-saving.

3. Interface agent

Mainly used as thickener, it can improve tensile strength and shear strength, improve surface coating, enhance adhesion and bond strength.

4. Exterior wall thermal insulation mortar

Cellulose ether plays a key role in bonding and increasing strength in this material, making the mortar easier to apply, improving work efficiency, and having a hang resistance ability. Its high water retention performance can extend the service life of the mortar, improve the resistance to shrinkage and cracking, improve surface quality, and enhance bonding strength.

5. Ceramic tile adhesive

High water retention eliminates the need to soak or wet the ceramic tile and substrate in advance, significantly improving their bonding strength. The slurry can have a long construction cycle, be delicate, uniform, convenient construction, and have good skid resistance.

6. Joint filler and pointing agent

The addition of cellulose ether provides good edge adhesion, low shrinkage, and high wear resistance, protecting the base material from mechanical damage and avoiding the negative impact of water penetration on the entire building.

7. Self leveling material

The stable viscosity of cellulose ether ensures good fluidity and self-levelling ability, and controls water retention to enable rapid solidification, reducing cracking and shrinkage.
