ABS resin is one of the five major synthetic resins. It is a copolymer polymerized from acrylonitrile (AN), butadiene (BD) and styrene (SM). The color is light yellow or milky white, and the content of styrene is the largest.

Acrylonitrile determines the aging resistance and chemical rigidity of the material;

Flame retardant ABS plastic
Because the ABS resin itself is not flame retardant, it is required to participate in a certain proportion of flame retardant in the ABS resin to achieve the flame retardant effect. Most of the added flame retardants are halogenated flame retardants. At present, most of the additives for flame retardant ABS materials on the market are tetrabromine flame retardants, and a few of the additives for ABS resins are tribromine flame retardants. Its flame retardancy is more superior than that of tetrabromine flame retardants. At present, some petrochemical plants are developing materials between tetrabromine flame retardant and tribromine flame retardant.
Flame retardant ABS resin is generally used in electronic and electrical products, such as display case, TV series case, router case, power switchable panel, power socket, car battery case, POS machine case, meter case, printer case, and other products in contact with power supply.
Heat resistant ABS plastic
Heat-resistant ABS plastic is mainly used to participate in heat-resistant agent or select heat-resistant AS in general ABS resin. Generally, the modification plant adds heat-resistant agent. Large petrochemical plants will prepare AS first and then participate in rubber synthesis of heat-resistant ABS resin. Compared with general ABS resin, heat-resistant ABS resin has higher heat deformation temperature (HDT) and higher Vicat softening point. Its excellent thermal stability, good processability and coating can replace PC+ABS, Some heat-resistant ABS can be used as electroplating products.
Heat-resistant ABS is used in microwave oven, electric kettle, electric iron, hair dryer coffee machine, air outlet of automobile air conditioner, automobile instrument panel, automobile rearview mirror and other products.
ABS for electroplating
ABS resin for electroplating is generally used to improve the rubber content in ABS resin and make the rubber more evenly distributed in the material, thus making ABS resin easier to electroplating. Generally, the rubber content of electroplated ABS resin is 15% to 25%. After the electroplated ABS plastic is treated with sulfuric acid and chromic acid mixed solution, the rubber content of the surface is corroded into irregular pores, so that metal particles can enter the pores and firmly adhere to the plastic surface during electroplating, improving the adhesion between the electroplated coating and the plastic surface.
ABS electroplating products are applied in the fields of electronic and electrical vehicles, and the interior and exterior trim parts of vehicles, such as door handles, decorative strips, heat dissipation grilles, and decorative strips of home appliance door panels.
Clear ABS
Transparent ABS is a copolymer polymerized from acrylonitrile (AN), butadiene (BD) and styrene (SM), which participate in acrylic resin MMA and become acrylonitrile (AN), acrylic resin (MMA), butadiene (BD) and styrene (SM). It has the characteristics of high transparency, high hardness, high rigidity and high impact strength. The light transmittance of ordinary transparent ABS can reach about 90.
Transparent ABS is widely used in electronic appliances, such as vacuum cleaners, smoking machines, toys, furniture and medical products.
Glass fiber reinforced ABS
Glass fiber reinforced ABS is a mechanical property of ABS that is greatly improved by adding a certain proportion of glass fiber. The content of ordinary glass fiber in glass fiber reinforced ABS is 10% to 40%, and the addition of 20% to 30% glass fiber is the most common. Generally, the higher the content of glass fiber, the better the tensile strength, bending strength, modulus of elasticity and rigidity of the material, and the greater the thermal deformation temperature. However, it is assumed that too much glass fiber will also degrade the performance of the material.
Glass fiber reinforced ABS is applied to the external fan of air conditioner, digital camera, printer, electric opening tool, as well as the shell of some electronic and electrical products.
